GROUNDING AND POWER QUALITY SITE SURVEYS AND CONSULTING

Our engineers have many years experience in solving power problems in all major industries such as Petrochemical/Gas Processing and Telecommunications.

Our services include both standard site surveys and long term site monitoring.

All of our site surveys incorporate full on site analysis of your power supply and distribution systems using the most up to date power analysers.

The real value of our site surveys is that it provides you with analytical data on which to make informed decisions as to the type of corrective action required.

Our surveys are fully documented with printouts of Power Findings, PQ Findings, Grounding Findings, Lightning Protection findings, Code Violations and Compliance Problems to Industy Specs , Standards and Guides, with full print outs of these results and suggestions for the correction of any problematic areas.

As sensitive electronic loads proliferate in industrial and commercial power systems, so do problems related to Electrical Grounding and Power Quality.

Microprocessor-based equipment has continued to evolve and operates faster, it has more components and has become more sensitive. Grounding has become critically important because it is the reference zero for the digital logic.

For 20 years, Grounding Systems Technologies has been involved solving electrical grounding, wiring, and other power quality problems that can affect this sensitive electronics.

Our staff of field engineers participates in electrical engineering standards committees and professional organizations

including IEEE and IEC to bring most current solutions:

Design review and survey to verify proper electrical distribution wiring at main entrance panels and subpanels (Violations of the National Electrical Code)

Site survey of electrical grounding configurations and Power Quality for code compliance, Industry requirements and safety

Systems and equipment installation survey for compliance with industry standards and manufacturer's specifications

Load balance verification, voltage tolerances

Measurement and evaluation of Power Quality parameters:

Voltage, Current, Harmonics, Apparent Power (KVA), Active Power (KW)

Reactive Power (KVAR), Power Factor (PF), Displacement Power Factor (DPF, k rating

Total Harmonic Distortion

Voltage fluctuations (Sags, Swells, Notches,Outages

Transient Overvoltage (Oscillatory decaying and Impulse Transients)

Voltage and current harmonic distortion

Evaluation of electrical distribution, Electrical Grounding and Lightning Protection configuration

Integrated Solutions

SOME OF THE BASIC INSTRUMENTS USED IN THE SITE SURVEYS:

Oscilloscope, Clamp-on Meter,Ground Resistance & Ground Resistivity Tester,Tri-Field Meter (Electrical Fields, Magnetic Fields, RF Radiation), Power Quality Analizer, Voltage Fluctuation Recorder, Wiring Tester, and others.

    We will:

  • Analyze recorded power monitor data

  • Evaluate the quality of utility electrical service

  • Identify the impact of facility/utility interface configuration: delta-wye vs. wye-wye

  • Determine the quality of the facility wiring and its impact upon power quality and equipment interaction

  • Judge the effects of multiwire distribution and load harmonics

  • Evaluate and select effective power mitigation devices

  • Assess the effect of various loads upon your facility

  • Measure the interference loop created between electrical wiring and data/telecommunication network wiring

  • RF Radiation Survey: Electrical Fields, Magnetic Fields, Electromagnetic Fields, Microwave Radiation

  • Plan and perform an effective power quality survey

  • Prepare a survey report and present the data in a meaningful and effective manner
